There are lots of different ways to learn in the INTO Center at the University of Exeter. Whether you’re enjoying a group debate or having a one-to-one tutorial session in one of the modern classrooms, the INTO Center has everything you need. Facilities include:

  • a 110-seat multi-purpose lecture theater for university-style lectures

  • state-of-the-art IT facilities to enrich your learning experience

  • a Learning Resource Center to access computers and find study materials

  • a well-equipped science laboratory for hands-on learning

  • two multimedia rooms with access to GeoGebra, Anaconda and online SolidWorks

  • an INTO Café to grab a coffee, cold drink or snack between studies

  • many comfortable spaces around the building to study and relax with friends

Open from 8:30 am–5:30 pm Monday to Friday, the Learning Resource Center (LRC) is the ideal place to work on your assignments. You’ll find a collection of academic books and study materials to help you with your course, plus:

  • magazines and journals

  • computers

  • photocopying and scanning facilities

  • printers

  • language resources

  • help with IT

If you can’t find the resource you’re looking for, you can also make use of the University of Exeter’s seven libraries – with more than 1.2 million books and journals between them! The Forum library is the closest to the INTO Center and is open 24/7.

In addition to standard study classrooms, INTO University of Exeter also has two multimedia classrooms with computers built into the desks. Here, you'll learn how to use specially installed software for your pathway such as GeoGebra, Anaconda and online SolidWorks.

International Year One in Engineering students use specialist software for Computer Aided Design (CAD), such as Solidworks. This software is regularly used in the University of Exeter's College of Engineering, Mathematics and Physical Sciences – this is a great opportunity for INTO students to get to know them before progressing.

Students studying an International Foundation with Mathematics have specific classes in the multimedia rooms to learn how to use Excel and Geogebra. Mathematics students are in these rooms at least once a week to access this technology. International Year One in Management and Business Economics students also access these computers for Excel.

A highlight of INTO University of Exeter’s teaching facilities is its large lecture theater – seating up to 110 students! While some International Year One programs enable students to experience lectures at the University, other pathways don't – but those students won't have to miss out. This space is designated just for INTO students and offers the opportunity to experience university-style lectures.

The lecture theater has flexible seating – chairs aren’t stationary in the room – and there are two projector screens at the front of the room to ensure that every student in the room can see. The room also has 'Lecture Capture' capabilities, which means that lectures are recorded so you can watch them back in your own time.

You may also experience interactive seminars here, where you'll explore challenging concept-related topics using 'clickers'. You'll share your vote and opinion from your seat simply by clicking a button!

The INTO Café sits in the heart of the INTO Center at the University of Exeter. Serving a range of refreshments, including coffee, tea, cold drinks, sandwiches and hot snacks, this is a great place to meet with friends and have a quick bite between classes.

If you want a more substantial meal, there are plenty of other cafés, restaurants and coffee shops on campus to find just about anything you're craving. From burgers and light pasta dishes to Mexican, Indian and Asian cuisine, you have so much choice here.
