Undergraduate programs with additional requirements: Animation and Visual Effects, Illustration, Visual Communication Design, Recording Arts and Production, Music (Performance, Jazz Studies, Jazz Education, School and Community Settings, Theory and Composition), Music Therapy, Musical Theatre, Theatre (Acting, Design, Technology and Management) and Dance.

Application process:

  • Portfolios should be submitted at the time of application. For programs that require an audition or an interview, the student will apply as normal via the INTO Apply form, the application will be sent to Montclair, they will review the application and make a decision on admission to the university.

  • The student will receive an initial offer directly from the university for an undeclared status at Montclair along with instructions on booking an audition or an interview and paying the required (for some majors) audition fee of $50-$65.

  • If successful in the audition or interview, the offer will be updated to a major specific offer.

GPA: Each application for admission to Montclair State University is reviewed individually, and the admissions process is a competitive one. Each decision is made within the context of the whole applicant pool and the number of places available in our incoming class.
